Hawkinson – Simply Techno

When Techno essentially would be a big tree with branches like Minimal or Electro style then Hawkinson would be the trunk of that tree. While others have jumped on the bandwagon’s that have come and gone, Hawkinson knew from the first day where he belonged - simply techno.
His first inspirations came from the same sources as most guys
in the business too – Kraftwerk,
Jean Michel Jarre, New Order, Depeche Mode
and Front 242 or Nitzer Ebb.

The difference is: he has remained true to his inspirations.

That is exactly what Hawkinson stands for and something other producers lost long ago – respect for the DJ culture. “DJing was and is still composing for me. I have always loved taking on new challenges - to take two vinyls and create something new.’’

Hawkinson has already a few time of DJing behind him. Since 2001, he has played at various clubs in Berlin. At just 23 years old, he secured his first gig at the legendary Tresor.
Now with his first releases Hawkinson displays the outcome of staying true
to his passion.
He knows what the crowd wants – what they need and he knows where he belongs – to the trunk of the Techno-tree. See for yourself. „The Session EP“ on Mueller Rec. is either melody impoverished like Minimal style or artificial overblown like Trance – all 3 tracks are simply good Techno
for the dance floor but this stuff is also worthy listening at home
or wherever you are with your big headphones. And it is no coincidence that an additional label, Pure Substance, has signed for more tracks from Hawkinson. Monthly the Techno magazine Partysan asks various artists the same questions in their series “11 Statements”.
One of their questions is, “What do you say to those who believe that Techno is dead?”
Without hesitation he responds, “No.” His DJing and his tracks give the same answer!
